The Mineral Compass is a data-driven accessibility analysis for metals and industrial minerals in Norway. Compiled data from the DMF and other public sources in Norway provide an indication of a selection of intersecting interests and the availability of these minerals. The analysis is based on publicly available datasets from multiple providers and includes information on mineral resources, protected areas, cultural heritage, species of national significance, reindeer husbandry, and relevant infrastructure.

The Directorate of Mining (DMF) is responsible for the professional development and content of the Mineral Compass. The DMF is an expert body and regulatory authority for mineral resources and mineral activities, and processes applications for exploration and extraction of minerals.
